Red patchy rash on my 18month old hand?

My son spent the day with his grandmother yesterday while my husband and I ran some errands. When we picked him up the first thing i noticed was he had a rash on his left hand. It is red and they are little bumps but in patches. The patches look kinda swollen. They are in between his fingers and on his palms and few (but not as red) on his knuckles. The first thing i thought was hand foot and mouth but he hasn't had a fever lately and its only on that one hand. I checked it this morning and it hasn't spread, still the one hand. He wont let me touch it but he knows its there because he'll present his hand to me like "look at this mommy!" So i don't know if it itches or hurts or just feels weird to him.

Since it is Sunday im not going to be able to get him in to see his pedi till tomorrow. So does this sound like something ya'll have heard of? Is it hand foot and mouth without the fever and only on one hand?

Sounds like an allergic reaction to something maybe ask the grandmother what he ate drank and what he did while staying with her. It could be as simply as playing in the yard and a bush irritated it. Could be a number of things. But certainly sounds like an allergic reaction to something. That normally what happens to me when I come into contact with something I'm allergic to. Even if I use some washing powders it will do this to me.
