My son has a Nov. birthday so he was 4 when he got into Kinder. His doing great academically and socially in school but because we'll be moving to a different city, I thought it'd be good to retain him a year since I thought that he started Kinder too young. (He'll be still 5 when school starts in Sept) But when I talked to his teacher, she was really against this idea. She's telling me that he'll get bored and loose interest in studying because there would be no motivation. Is this true? Now I'm afraid to retain him. Help!

If his current teacher is against keeping him behind then I wouldn't keep my kids behind. The only way I would keep my kids behind was if they were struggling academically, I would never keep them behind just so they would be ahead of the class. The teacher is right he could absolutely lose interest and start acting out if he's bored.
