I was pretty much told the same thing. My son was in for his fourth month visit Friday, and the doc said I could start, but she also said the more I can hold out until he's six months, the less likely he is to be obese. We are worried about that for our son.

My doctor told me between 4 and 6 months is fine. I started my son at 4 months old. He wasn't to hip to the spoon at first but a few days into it, he liked it. My doctor also said that I should not feed cereal using a bottle because it is hard to get the right amount of food for baby.

my baby is 13 weeks and we introduced him to cereal a few days ago. the milk didn't seem to be filling him up he would drink so much he would start spitting it back up so we started him on cereal to help fill his belly. as for my daughter she was 4 months when i started her on cereal, if you don't feel that your baby needs cereal right now and the milk seems to be doing fine i would wait till at least 4 months before you introduce it.

I started my son on a little cereal at 2 1/2 months old. I use a little in his daytime bottles and a little more for his last bottle before he goes to bed. It helps to hold him a little longer between eating and it helps him not to drink so much milk at a time. He would be so hungry he would drink to much and his little belly would get so full and round. The pediatrician also said it would be okay for him to have a little in his bottle to stop him from throwing up after he eats. I won't be starting him on full amount of cearel until he is atleast 4 months old.

Good advice so far- between 4-6 months as long as baby's neck is strong, and definitely no cereal in bottles!

My doctor says anytime between 4-6 months but only once the baby can sit up in a bumbo or high chair without their head wobbling. My girls are 5 months old today and we're introducing rice cereal next weekend. :)
