Alsooooooo... my doc put me on Magnesium which helps as an every day repellant for muscle spasms and hyper tension. I'm pregnant with them and it's safe for me so it should be safe for ya :) he said 400mg but I take 500mg daily (1 pill, it was the only amount I saw in the store lol) it took about a week to work but it now helps. I also take Tylenol when stuff gets really bad..... it's the only thing that really helps. If you are not pregnant, they can put you on better meds but if you are, your stuck with Ty and Mag lol :)

This happens because the muscle spasms and locks you in place. Your doc might be able to prescribe a muscle relaxant. Ibuprofen in fairly large doses is also helpful at getting the inflammation down. Get the Ergoscue book Pain Free and work through the exercises--they really work!

Don't feel stupid. When I was working as a nursing assistant, it would hit sometimes while I was in the ladies room. At least you are in a chair and not stuck on the john! LOL

The only thing that works for me is rest. I hate it! I've had times where I will go to step on my right leg, and the pain is so intense that I fall to the ground (it's happened while grocery shopping also). Take a couple tylenol and motrin together and wait about an hour. Things should have eased up enough for you to walk at least, but only walk if necessary. Otherwise the pain will come right back. Once mine hits, I'm pretty much done for the day. Hope you start feeling better!
