Second baby at 36 with a 5 year old, good idea?

My husband and I have a 5 year old and are really considering having another. Our son seems excited about the idea now, but will they get along with such an age difference? And I'm 36. Should I be worried?

There are plenty of families with children spaced that far apart. They may have one or two in between but still think about how many bigger families have children sometimes decades apart. I had my first at 29 and my second at 38. My son was always asking for a sibling but it took us a little longer than expected. He was very excited when I told him that we were expecting. He was always a big help with his little brother and there was literally no fighting or jealousy until recently.( and it's not too bad) They are now 14 and 5 and one looks out for the other and the little guy looks up to his big brother. I figured it wasn't the perfect scenario but it was perfect for us! I really thought it through and decided I didn't want my son to miss out on the joys of having a sibling even in his later years. Good luck with your decision!
