I am 39 weeks and was just curious if having relations really help induce labor. My husband and I have tried everything but that and I was wondering if that worked for anyone. Please share your info!!! Thanks for your help!!!!

Orgasm is the key, masturbating will help induce labor as much as orgasmic sex and more so than non orgasmic sex.

its not actually the act of sex its just the seamen that really gets everything going. it worked 4 me less than 4hours later n i was in labor!!!
good luck!!

This one didn't work for me this time round but did for my first child... I think this only works if bub is ready to come out.... I don't think there is anything that can really "bring on" labour if bub or your body isn't ready.... rather than trying to bring on labour take some time to rest and enjoy your last few weeks/days... you will look back on them later....

It is researched that having sex around the time of your due date can induce labor, for a number of reasons;orgasm for the woman releases hormones, plus the testosterone in the sperm.I also know from personal experience when my husband and I used this method after my due date came and went without me going into labor, that having sex created a leak in my placenta,so they had no choice but to "pit" me and break my water!!! Nipple stipulation is said to be a labor induction, but that is a myth.Good Luck-and have fun!!!

It will only work if your baby is ready to come out! I was 41weeks 2 days with my last one, only had 2.5 hour labor. I cant remember if it was that morning that we had sex or the morning before, I went into labor in the evening. I was hoping he would wait one more day to come though, I wanted him to be born in April & he was born March 31 :-D I was anxious to get my first one out & used castor oil, but I don't really recommend it, but i'd use it again before being induced by a doctor.

it's supposed to help soften your cervix. That's what my Dr. said. I am 38 weeks and my husband and i are trying everything and i've done research and it seems with everything i've read, sex and walking along with nipple stimulation is supposed to help. Also, when a women climaxes it releases oxytocin which is a synthetic form of potocin (a hormone that helps you go into labor)

It did not work with me. We tried all that we could, and I even had my membranes stripped at the doc's office and that didnt work either. I had to be induced bc he was not coming out, took 14 hours of labor and 3 1/2 hours of that was straight pushing.....

Hope you have better luck than I did. Sorry I could not have been more help:(
