Should I choose to have a C-section or not?

I am 8 months pregnant and have been given the choice by my doctor to have a C-section or deliver vaginally. I am leaning toward a C-section because I am a very small person and so was my mom and she had many problems and had to have reconstructive surgeries from giving birth naturally. I am scared I will have the same problems if I don't have the C-section, but I don't want to make the wrong choice. Anyone have suggestions on which one to choose?

As someone who has done both a c-section and a vaginal, the recovery period is a LOT shorter for vaginal birth. You don't realize how much you use the muscles cut in a c-section until you can't--every time you stand up, sit down, roll over, cough, sneeze, laugh, or hiccup. I had my VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) two weeks ago, and I'm pretty much back to full functionality, barring hemorrhoids and some stitches from tearing during delivery. I would recommend at least trying a vaginal birth--but in the end, any decision that results in healthy you and healthy baby isn't a wrong one.
