I have a 9 month old son, who no matter how many times i have tried to get him to drink form a sippy cup just likes to throw it around and get the place and himself soaking... How can i help him? I have tried so many different ones, and even the non spill ones end up everywhere, any ideas on a good cup for him ...?

Have you tried one of those rubber maid sippy bottles? they have a little rubber thingy that only opens when you suck the fluid out so when they chuck them they don't let liquid fly all over.

We started using hard tipped sippies at that age but yeah it was still a mess. Have you tried modeling it for him? My daughter learned not to do that after my nephew, 6 months older then her, ripped it out of her hand and gave it to his mommy for throwing it all over the place. He then turned her face to him and showed her how to drink from a sippy correctly......took her a few tries to be like him but she got it by the end of our stay.

u have to try different methods and find teh one that suits u and him best.wat i did with my son was i drank from a sippy cup and made it kinda fun-like i would say "look at mummy with her cup" and "do u wana try it" and after offering it a few times and demonstrating how to use it he caught on and did it himself but u have to teach him by u showing him and then placing it down and focusing on another activity then come back to it a few hrs later. just try different methods and trust me-the mess only gets worse as they get older!not just with the cups-food too! but its all about how u make a big or small deal out of it-just distract them with something else and they soon catch on to right and wrong-but it does take practice. and if he still doesnt get it for a lil while then give it a break for a few weeks and try again. good luck! also my son was the same as the first reply's children-he loved the straw, u could use that for a while then switch over to the sippy cup...

i use gerber graduates i use to use some really soft nipple sippys when my son was 6 months and took him off the bottle to the sippy and the only problem i had with them were that he would break the top i am guessing by biting them but i know that when we were trying to get him off the soft tip sippy to the hard that gerber graduats had some semi soft and semi hard tops and i love them they are a bit expencive but they are nice i have never filled the sippys all the way up to the top so you might keep that in mind try a soft tip and dont fill it up to the very top or its more likely to leak

He is only 9 months old. Give him time. And there are no such things as a "good sippy cup" that wont spill. He is still a of course he wont immediately know how to use it. Be consistent and patient. He will catch on eventually.
