Hello,
I need some advice. I have 3 kids... 6yr old girl, 3 yr old girl, and a 4 month old son. What I need help with is this... My 6 yrs old daughter wants a sippy cup every time her 3 yr old sister has a sippy cup. This includes... in the vehicle, at nap/bed time, periodicly throughout the day, etc. How in the world can I get the 6 year old broke of it. I have tried to just not give her one, but she throws a temper tantrum, dumps the regular cup of whatever out, etc. If they are with other members of family she is fine with a "big person's cup", but when with me, she wants a sippy cup. Please help me. Thank you.

I'd give it to her, she will eventually realize that it is not all that great once you are not making a big deal of it and she is actually getting it.

We never did sippy cups. My daughter went straight from the bottle to a cup. I'd say tell them their sippy cup days are over (for all of them except the 4 month old who's probably still nursing or being bottle fed) and have the other two drink out of a cup. They have the motor skills to do it. If they can tip up a sippy cup to drink, then they can drink out of a regular cup.

Messes? Keep the cups confined to the kitchen and when in the car, we gave her water only that way if she spilled, it's just water.

She knows you will give in to her. Tell her she is a big girl and if she insists on throwing a tantrum, calmly take the cup away from her and walk out of the room. Ignore her a few times and she will get the message.
