Hi worn out.
You may feel a little happier knowing the following.....
No baby has ever been hurt by their own crying. He will learn that being in the cot is for sleeping and also that you are in charge.
Stop stressing, even if it takes him hours upon hours to go to sleep. Screaming the house down will tire him out (eventually) while you can put ear plugs in or music earphone time. Have a look at the techniques on line (I have forgotten the name of the technique for now, sorry) for breaking his bad habit. This is in fact our own bad habit to for letting them get away with their stubbornness behaviour. I did a similar thing where I would cuddle mine to sleep but at 18 months he wouldn't sleep any other way except with a cuddle. He is now 19yrs old. Could you imagine what I'd be doing tonight if I didn't do some tough love at 18 months?? !!! :-)
Happy sleep times are about 2 weeks away. Keep tough. :-)
