Good question

I too have daughter that bites her nails (she is almost 3).

However, I do not bite my nails though...

Her father sometimes does when he stresses (like when really stressed out, not just a little, so its not a constant thing with him like with some people), though I am not sure if she has seen him do it.

I too worry that she will have a life long habbit, and that she will have no nails left by the time she is a teen!!!

there is a paint you can get should be able to pick it up at the supermarket or ask a pharmisist. It worked for me as a kid I use to bite my nails. I don't now.

I'd suggest the first step would be for you to try and stop. She's just copying what you are doing.

I know it's hard (I used to bite my nails as well) but my 2yo copies everything I do. She pretends to put make up on, brushes her hair when I do and even copies my mannerisms. She wants to be just like Mummy.

Other than that I would distract her with other things when she does it or you can get some stuff to put on the nails that tastes horrible. It never worked for me because I liked the taste of it :-)
