Speech evaluation

My daughter was born at 26 weeks. She is now 9 months old (6 months corrected) and she barely makes any sounds. I talk to her in english and spanish, I sing to her , I read her books, and just recently I started signing with her because I read that signing helps their speech develop.

She is giong to have a speech evaluation and I was wondering what that entails. I feel so guilty. Like, maybe it's my fault she isn't talking, maybe I didn't talk to her enough.

Anyone else going through this and/or had a speech evaluation? What do they do? I live in NJ.

We had a speech eval done on my daughter at six months b/c she had a swallowing disorder. It was very non-envasive, but I cant remeber all that it entailed. All they basically said was that they would continue to monitor it. She did end up requiring speech services at 18 months, but it truly helped.

I don't know how they do an evaluation for a 6 month old my daughter had an evaluation done at 19 months when she was barely talking. It was all very interactive, fun, and engaging for her.
