How old is your child if I might ask? I've heard and had this conversation with many mothers and grandmothers. Holding a child isn't spoiling them. In many third world countries, mother's will actually strap a child to themselves so that they might go about their day. This closeness creates a need for independence as your child gets older. My twenty month old son is a perfect example of this!

We held him all the time when he was little. Still do for the most part, but now that he is mobile and wants to go, go, go ... he'll do just about anything on his own. He LIKES doing things on his own.

Another reason why your daughter might be wishing for you to hold her is because you do only have her half the time. So she needs more of an emotional and physical bond with you to feel secure in her relationship with her mother.

I know it can be trying at time, but it is extremely important to hold your baby close. They are only that little once in their lives and yours. Cherish it.

Good luck to you!
