I haven't read much on toilet training but I have helped to toilet train a lot of children through work so I might be able to give you some tips.

I would start off slowly, at each nappy change put your daughter on either the toilet or potty and encourage her to go, more so just to get her used to sitting on it.

Encourage her and praise her, make a huge deal out of even the smallest success.

Don't make a big deal over accidents, I would just say something like "whoops, where do wee's go?" etc. encourage her to answer you.

Sometimes they can get bored sitting on the toilet, so be prepared with books, singing, puppets etc.

Put her on the toilet every 20 -30 minutes for the first week or two, otherwise expect a lot of accidents. The whole concept of training is for them to understand the feeling of needing to go to the toilet, so reminding them helps.

I am not a fan of pull ups or nappy pants, I think it's important for them to feel wet or soiled if they have an accident.

Personally I wouldn't take nappies away altogether (I am not talking about sleep time, just when she is awake) I would start with blocks of time, so for the first week 2 hours in the morning, taking her to the toilet every 20-30 minutes. But that's just personal preference really and it depends on your child as well. She may start and never look back, or she maybe hesitant, you will just have to see.

Also I think it's really important for you to be ready, be prepared for all the extra washing, the accidents at inappropriate times because if your not it's easy to become frustrated and it's important that toilet training is a positive experience.

Good luck :)
