You do what you want to do... my pediatrician at my son's 1yr check up told me that she is ok with him drinking 2%. I gave him whole milk and only 2oz and he had diarrhea for 3 days and very bad diaper rash for over a week. So we only give him 2%.. there really is not that much difference between them.

You keep him on whole as long as you want. It tastes better to most kids cause it's creamier. Milk isn't going to make him fat. As long as the rest of his diet is good, whole milk won't hurt anything. Just be glad he likes milk :)

When my daughter turned a year old, the Dr. said start her on 2% which i thought was a little weird so i gave her whole, but now i just kind of alternate between 2% & whole!!

We use both.. I do try to keep Whole Milk in the house, but if we run out then he gets 2% until I go to the store.. I also give him Pediasure in case he is missing some nutrients in his diet.. Some days he just doesn't eat much.. Your pediatrician will let you know if your child no longer needs the fats and calories from whole milk.. Just ask them on your next visit.. I drank whole milk until I was around 7-8 years old.

Keep him on whole milk until 5 years old. Then switch him to 2%. Keep him on the 2% until he is an adult.
