Kaylee had a fever this morning of 101.8. When we took her to the doctor, we found out that she had a stomach virus and we needed to change her formula until it goes away. Is it okay to just up and change the formula from similac advanced to similac sensitive? She is 11 months old. He told me to try to not feed her any milk/formula if i can, and to feed her as much baby food as possible. But she always has a bottle in the morning and one during the day, but is it okay to change it like that?

and a s far as colic goes being on the wrong formula can cause colic. i have 9 neices and nephews and 2 kids of my own. and when 3 of them had colic they switched their formulas and it helped them out alot. it is common that a child with reflux can be mis diagnosed with colic because symptoms are so similar. and if a baby has reflux there are alot of formulas that can make the reflux worse. . . . but switching a formula is perfectly fine to do. (even suddenly) as long as you monitor for rash or excessive ammounts of spit up, and crankyness. and similac advance and similac sensitive (plain) are so similar that i really wouldnt worry. sensitive is just easier on her tummy thats all

Quoting Wendy:

When my children were little they were almost completely off formula by 11 months. I gave them water and juice in their cups. Milk would only sour on their stomaches if they ran any fever at all.

She doesnt have a bottle at all during the day except when she wakes up. I was just wondering if it was okay to switch formula because the doctor said not to give to much pedialyte or juice because they make her stools more loose. Just to give it to her to keep her hydrated. But is it okay to switch?

NO! when my little boy was born he was premature and had a cow milk protein allergy. While we had to change formulas multiple times to find on that worked best for him the changing back and forth between formulas can make colic worse.
