Supplementing :-( Help

My son is 3 months old. At birth he weighed 7 lbs 14 oz he is now 10 lbs 1.5 oz. His doctor says hes not gaining weight to their standards and he would like me to start supplementing with formula. He wants another weight check next week. I have exclusively nursed since he was born. I know that he gets 16-18 oz of bm while he is with grandma while im at work. Then he nurses 3 more times before he goes to bed. He sleeps thru the night most of the time. He only gets fussy when he has a wet diaper or when hes gassy and needs to burp. I really do not want to supplement. Now my husband is saying well if the dr suggests it and you dont do it then you are putting our son at risk and makes me feel even worse about it. Please any suggestions are welcome.

Look up "breast fed baby growth chart" and print one up to show your husband, and even your doctor. Breastfed babies grow differently. If your son is gaining weight AT ALL and he seems happy and is having several wet diapers a day, he is FINE and doesn't need supplementing. Don't let your doctor bully you into doing something you don't feel is necessary. Get a second opinion if you can.
