teenage vasectomy

My son is 17. He does not want kids. He says if he is ever in a position to provide a home for someone who needs one, he would like to do that as the world is overpopulated as it is. He is a very intelligent young man who sees and cares about the BIG picture and I support his decision, even at this age. I told him he likely will not find a surgeon who will do this until at least 18 years of age. How do I help him find one?

Well, unless he has a medical recommendation, he's not going to find a physician that will do a vasectomy that young, so tell him his best method at this age is no sex, or double barrier protection.

My husband NEVER wanted children. He had a friend that also didnt want children. They made appointments for a vesectomy when they were 30yrs old.My husband then decided not to do it.(not that he wanted kids) ... Then when he met me and we married he wanted a child. We have a child now. The same guy that said he would NEVER get Married and NEVER wants a child married me,wanted children. Just aswell he didnt get it done. Your child is 17...it doesnt matter how inteligent he is.He never knows if he might change his mind..even if that will be in 20years time. I hope no doctor does it. If he doesnt want children atm he can use condoms, and make sure his partner is on birthcontrol..but a vasectomy at that age is just crazy. I dont mean to be rude, but you should not encourage him. My husband had to turn 36 to realize that he actualy does want to be married and a father.
