Terrible 2's, HELP!!!

Kayla - posted on 03/12/2011 ( 2 moms have responded )

My son will be two in May. He has already started the terrible two stage where he doesnt listen, tells you no etc. Sometimes my patence runs out trying to get him to listen to me, today is one of these days. I love my son but too often my patience run out and I feel like I am a bad mother because he is always in time out for not listening. I understand his part of the age thing but its driving me nuts. i feel like a such bad mom. I need some ideas on whats something I can do to get him to listen to me without being so harsh? Is there anything I can do so my patience and nerves wont disappear so fast?

If anyone has ideas I will be grateful.

Sounds like my daughter :D She turned two in January so she's showing a lot of her independence now. Every time i tell her to do something her response is always, "No!" then she runs away. Sigh. She loves to try my patience with a cheeky grin when ever she knows i'm at the end of my rope. It's hard not to get frustrated when they react in that way but sometimes you just have to let them learn, they want to feel like they're in charge (it's actually cute to watch them LOL).

There are "those" days and there are days where it's not so bad. Just go with it. If your child pushes you to that point, just breathe and count back from 10 (in your head). Unless they are doing anything that will endanger themselves or those around them, might as well let them be.

Your not a bad mother for disciplining your son. They need that also, that's how they learn. Do what you think is best for your son.

Relax. My daughter will be 2 next week and I just go with it. Of course they're just expressing their independence. They are learning new things and how to be assertive. It's totally normal. You just go with the flow, that's what I do. I actually enjoy it :)
