To medicate or not to medicate?

Should I take my child to the doctor every time he is sick? Or, should I let him fight the sickness to help his immune system develop? (Assuming there is no severe fever)

I only take my son to the doctor when he is very ill.Once he needed antibiotic, coughing etc. Then once i had to go because he had an allergy from a coughsirup that i bought at the pharmacy, and once because of the diarrhea caused by salmonella and i went once with him to the doctor when he had a puffed up eye,he had an infection in the eye and needed a special cream.Otherwise i dont go,for example he had a cold 2weeks ago without coughing,so i just used some creams and baths to get rid of it.It really depends on what he has,how sick he is,but i dont go to the doctor for eatch little cold or light temprature.I also try not to give medicine if its not needed.
But he did get vaccinated and i am not against medicine.Just sometimes the doctors like to give medicine for any little cold and that i dont find ok. But sometimes i think its best to phone the doctor and ask if its nessecary to bring the child, just to be on the safe side.

So long answer short: If its nessecary yes,if not then no.Just depends on how sick or what symptoms.

Well, it depends why he is sick. Your doctor shouldn't always be ordering medication every time he is sick because this actually interferes with the development of the immune system. Mild fevers don't need medicating. A virus does not need medicine from a doctor.

So my answer is, this is a case by case thing. Has your doctor been giving you medication a lot? What has he said has been wrong with your child? personally, I've never always taken my kids to a doctor, it just depends on the illness.
