Toddler won't sleep in crib, says she's scared?

My daughter just turned 3. She has her own room and she still sleeps in a crib. But she doesn't want to sleep in there. She says that it's scary, that theres spiders or bugs around (which there are not any). The only way I can get her to sleep in her crib is to rock her to sleep in my room - and then when she's knocked out - transfer her to her own bed. She does not have a toddler bed yet. She does have a night light - and I even have "camper rope lights" hanging on her walls - White ones. And then I even bought her the Pillow Pets Dream lite and she STILL doesn't want to sleep in there. It's a little frustrating. I don't know what to do to get her to fall asleep in her crib. And this has all started 3 months ago when I quit working.

I think maybe its time for a toddler bed. My kids were two and 1.5 years old when they went to regular beds. My daughter got a twin at two. My son got a toddler bed at 1.5 because for one thing he was too big for a crib. By age three they should be in a toddler bed. At even a year some kids can climb in and out of cribs and that is not safe. Toddler beds are a better option. As for her fears of the bugs and so on, its typical for a child this age to have some sorts of fears. You said you had all kinds of night lights and so on in her room. Turn some of them off. One little night light is good enough and it does not produce shadows on the walls that could in fact be shapes of what your child terms to be the bugs she sees. This could also be an attention getter too. But the above things I do recommend.
