Tubal...Starting to have 2nd thoughts

I am 6 days away from delivering my 3rd and final child. It was a miracle that I even talked my husband into having 3 so he is headstrong that I get a tubal as soon as I deliver. Three is all that I want too. My problem is that I worry that if any thing comes up in the future (I'm a worrier) where I may want another child, I am almost certainly taking my chances away (as tubals are not very successfully reversed). My thoughts on this is that my husband should have a vasectomy because they are more easily & more successfully reversed. Am I being crazy for being so worrysome & indecisive???

In my opinion, a woman should not do that to herself... you never know what is in your future and you don't know if you may want children again or not! If your husband is so against more children he should have a vasectomy.... Or just use strong birth control! Only God knows what is in your future and I think its bad for a woman to permanently change something about herself just for a man. I also heard of many women who had it done and seriously regretted it 5-10 years down the line.

You are not crazy, my husband wants to me get one too. I put my foot down and said he needed to get a vasectomy if he was so set on having no more kids since a tubal is more invasive and could cause future damage to me. He agreed after listing the pros and cons.

Not crazy, if he is the one that feels so strongly then he is the one that should do something about it. When I found out that you still have your period even after a tubal there was no reason for me to get it even with a c-section. I am also a worrier and there are better methods that are less permanent.

I had the same issue as you. A few days before the surgery I had major second thoughts. I ended up not getting it done and am getting an IUD instead. My husband is talking about a vasectomy and I think it is a great idea. I went through the pain of three babies and now it is his turn to take one for the home team. lol

Well, if you're having a c-section, it IS easier for them to do everything 'all at once'.

I had mine done after a scheduled c-section (told the doctor to 'take out the slides, but leave the playground' )

If you're delivering naturally, you can always opt to have the procedure done later, as it's just 'extra surgery' after a natural birth.....I don't think I would want to go with anything 'extra' after giving birth......plus, it will give you more time to decide / discuss other options with the hubby.

Congratulations on your new baby - best to you and all of your family!

Yeah - a little crazy but the fact is a vasectomy is easier and he should be the one to have the procedure done.
