My baby is 6moths old now and still is not crawling i have tried to put her on her tummy but no luck, how do i make tummy time more fun for her

Does she reach for things? Put them just out of her way and she'll scoot to try and get them. My baby (she's 7 years old now) crawled 9 1/2 months....and then walked about a week later. Don't worry--your baby is doing great!

My daughter will be 6 months next week and is no where near crawling yet. She's quite fond of rolling over both ways though. We have one of those play mats with two bars that criss-cross over it with toys you can hang from it. She tries to grab them and rolls from back to tummy and tummy to back all the time. It lights up and plays music, she loves it. It really helped her enjoy being on the floor and roll around too.

Don't worry about the crawling all babies do it at their own pace, she will crawl just at a later date. There are lots play mats on the market specifically geared for tummytime. And with my daughter I can put her in her crib with her stuffed animals in front of her and she makes and effort to get to them.

Some babies never crawl and go straight to walking. My daughter use to freak out everytime I put her on her tummy. I'd get on the floor with her and that would work for 2 minutes and she'd scream. I lay her down in front of a mirror now and she stays on her belly until she tires of chatting with the baby in the mirror and decides to roll over or wiggle herself backwards. She shows more interest in standing and bouncing on her legs than crawling so maybe she'll be like her dad and skip crawling altogether.

I use to get on the floor with my kids and make faces, smiles, boo, and stuff it kept them laughing and looking up. But don't worry about it my daughter didn't crawl until 8/9 months, and the boys never did. They just went straight to furniture walking at around 9 mths. My daughter scooted everywhere for ages!

My daughter didn't crawl till 9 months old. She was born with torticollis and tummy time for her was literally just hell poor darling. She didn't start being on her tummy more than a few seconds at a time until she had had 3 months of physio, by which time she was 5 months. Once she started rolling over she started to become a bit more tolerant, as well as the physio having taken effect to strengthen and stretch out her neck muscles.

It isn't at all abnormal for babies to not crawl when they are only 6 months old - every baby does things at a different time so I really wouldn't worry. If you have concerns, just pop down to your local health nurse and discuss them. They have pretty well heard and seen nearly everything there is to hear and see and should at least be able to reassure you. But from my own personal experience I really wouldn't worry too much, just gentle encouragement and things will start happening!

With my daughter's condition it really helped to have a rolled up towel or cloth nappies laid down that she could rest over, perhaps that is something you could try? Good luck with it :)

Tummy time is just not fun for some babies. My son would scream every time i put him down for tummy time. He eventually started rolling over, and that's when tummy time started for him. My son had a huge head and couldn't sit up on his own for awhile, longer than most babies. Every child progresses in different areas at different rates. RElax and enjoy

OMG, what a cute baby!

I try to use toys to make it fun, my daughter hates tummy time too. She's six months and is not crawling yet either. But, I have also found that her hatred of tummy time combined with her love of some of her toys helps to motivate her to move, so she has started scooting on her tummy to reach toys that I place just out of her grasp. She gets mad when I do it, but it's not hurting her, so I let her get a little upset. When she starts getting really upset, then we stop. But, I stay down on the floor with her and try to encourage her to enjoy it more. Good luck!

If you want to make it more fun for her, then get down on your tummy in front of her and put some of her favorite toys in front of her to reach out to. Don't worry she'll crawl when she is ready. My daughter crawled and 9 months of age and would roll around everywhere before that. Don't forget what is written in the baby books are just guidelines....she'll get to it when she is ready.

Mine just started crawling and she is 8 1/2 months. They all do it on their own time. Don't feel pressured.
