Twins born at 26 weeks gestational

My twins have been in the NICU sense they were born at 26 weeks they are now almost 34 weeks gestational and are still in the NICU. How much longer before they come home? They are saying it could 3-4 more weeks. That feel like forever. Any thoughts on this matter

It really just depends on how they are doing. A good rule of thumb is that usually they are ready to come home about the time you would have been due. So babies it ends up being a bit shorter and some a bit longer, but for the majority of preterm babies it is about the time they would have been due. It just takes time for them to learn how to eat, learn how to regulate their temp. and to gain the amount of weight they need to be able to thrive going home. Just take it one day at a time. Connect with others that are also in the NICU this is a great support and you are able to relate with each other. Create mini goals....this helps make it feel not so far away. Hang in there the day will come. :)
