Twins maybe?

[deleted account] ( 12 moms have responded )

Hi there everyone, have just found out that I am pregnant, no 4 baby but found out a week before my period so was wondering if anyone has found out this early and if it could mean twins (high hcg level). Have done a blood test 4weeks from Lmp but haven't got them yet. Hopefully get them tomorrow :) My mum is a twin but not sure if she was identical or not, definitely will have to get a bigger house and a bigger car lol. Your thoughts on this would be great. Cheers Cheri

My HCG level tripled in 48 hours (normally they look for it to double) and I was carrying twins. The nurse told me that a high HCG level doesn't always mean twins though. I had a feeling I was having twins! I had IVF and found out I was pregnant 2 weeks after the embryo transfer.

well with my first baby ( a singleton) it took the full 3 minutes for the test to show up positive, and when i took my pregnancy this time (twins) the test turned positive before i was even finished peeing on the stick. but for real you wont know until ur first u/s for sure. but good luck! :)

I had high hcg levels with all mine and no twins. I don't think it means anything, just different for everyone. You could still have twins but I don't think it has anything to do with this. I found out at 3-4 weeks with all mine as we were trying and I couldn't wait lol.

Twins run in the female gene so it's always a chance when twin run in the family. We had a high chance with our pregnancies as well. Twins run on 2 sides of the mothers side, my fathers side, my husband mothers side...but like i said that doesn't count cause it only runs through female...well that's what i was told by my Dr anyways lol.
High HcG could mean you are further along as well and didn't know it. I had very low hcg in blood work with my first, but i showed positive on a home test so i had to go in every day to get blood work. After 4 days they thought i was having twins cause it went up so fast...i had an U/S 2 days later and just a single cell was there:) My daughter there was no second thought that it was just one.
You wont really know until a U/S is done to be honest.
Good luck and if it is twins, i wish you luck lol

Goodness, that's really high hcgs, sounds like more than one to me, but then I'm not a doctor ;) but congrats on your pregnancy, hope it goes really well for you and your nausea calms down, take care :)

I am 5-6 weeks pregnant with HCG levels at 24,887. On a scan at (by my guestimation) I was 5 weeks 3 days, they said the sac that they saw was measuring under 5 weeks. They DID see a yolk sac as well but no baby yet. Maybe they are right about my dates and I do have two in there, causing the nice and high HCG beta results? I go for another hcg tomorrow to see if the number is rising.. and BTW I had NO morning sickness with my other two children, but I need to be on diclectin with this one because I am constantly on the verge of vomitting! Thoughts???

Thanks so much for all of you who have responded, just an update, had my hcg levels, they are 440, and was told by my nurse that the levels are the norm for singletons, though my levels for my son were 423 at 5 weeks, here's hoping there's just one little bean in there, but if not just more to love :)

high hcg level does not mean twins. I was 6 weeks with levels of over 25000. Aweek before they were 75. I only had 1 embryo in my first scan and in all the other ones.

I found out I was pregnant with a single baby at only 3 weeks, I was 4 days shy of missing my normal period. No it doesnt mean twins. Yes they MAY beable to tell by HCG levels but the only way to confirm it is by ultrasound

There's no way to know for sure until you've had an ultrasound..... Congrats on the new precious baby (or babies) that have joined your family.
