Hi there, I am 20 weeks pregnant and have a rather achy pelvic region (like its slowly being pryed apart) I have heard this is due to normal hormonal movement, but how long does it last.

I was diagnosed with Seperated Symphisis Pubis...It is where the cartalidge of your pelvis starts tearing away from the pelvic bone. When you are prego, your hormones soften the cartalidge naturally so your pelvis can expand,..making the baby pass during labor. It is a VERY easy thing to miss diagnose as just pain...but man it hurts! I had to get the Belly Band to help lift the baby up. I am 31 weeks prego, and it definatley has helped...not cured! I have been told DO NOT DELIVER ON YOUR BACK! This can actually make it alot worse, and recovery time can be torture. Especially if you have an epidural and cannot feel what your body is doing. If anything, deliver on your side, it is much easier on your pelvis. I started getting the pains at about 20 weeks, and it has been persistant ever since. I will get this pain across my pelvis doubling me over in the middle of walking or moving around, and I need to immediatley sit down. I of course don't know if this is what you have, I am just telling you about my experience, Please talk to your Dr. about it...and if you already have and they have just said prego pain...do your own research! Ask if this is what it may be! Seperated Symphisis Pubis (I talked about it in my birthing class, and one other women said that sounds like the pain she had throughout pregnancy...her dr also said "growning pains") Good luck, sorry for the ramble...hope this helps!
