The sphincter muscle that controls the opening to a baby's stomach isn't fully mature when they are born. It can take up to a year. If a baby eats too much or too fast, or swallows some air, that can cause them to spit up after they eat. It's normal, and doesn't bother most babies. It also tends to look worse than it is too. It usually looks like they are spitting up a lot more than they really are. As long as your baby doesn't seem uncomfortable, and is growing and developing well I wouldn't worry.
