Age 2 is also a good age to stop the use of the binky or paci as people call them. My daughter was 16 months when she actually lost it when we were out walking around a small town that had a lot of shops and areas of interest in it. We stopped at the grocery store on the way home after not finding it and got one just in case. We did not give it to her but waited for her to ask for it and she never did. My son finally got done with his at 8 months of age not needing it to sleep or sooth anymore. He would spit it out after a minute so I got rid of it.

I stopped using mine when my son was clearly ready around 3 1/2. Some people would be appalled by that, but he slept very well, and only used it at night. We did have to work on only using it at night, but when he was ready to get rid of it, he was emotionally ready.
