What do you do when you feel alot of sadness & darkness and it causes insomnia??

Lately due to the passing of my baby in August 09' due to pre-term labor...I have been struggling with alot of sadness and unhappyness..... My husband works night and at night I feel the most sadness and lonelyness. My sadness turns into insomnia and I am unable to sleep and restless and sometimes suffer from aniexty any idea's for trying to not feel so down????

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my son last April and I know how you're feeling. I joined a great bereavement group for mothers who have lost babies. I hope you have a good relationship with your doctor...mine has helped me so much. I suggest doing things in memory of your baby as sometimes it helps. I joined the group Moms of Angel and Rainbow Babies on COM but there isn't much conversation. Feel free to message me anytime!

First of all I am sorry for your loss. Did you get any councilling at all to deal with your grief? The night can seem so long when you can't sleep and your brain wants to go through every thing when your trying to sleep. Firstly go to your gp and tell him what is going on and that you are having trouble sleeping, he may perscribe a mild sleeping tablet to help get you back into the routine of sleep. He may decide that you are understandably depressed and perscribe an anti depressant to help you get through these difficult times. We all deal with grief differently and it sounds to me that your mind is so active during the night it wants to try and work things out, where you go from here and probably the why me! You need to learn how to relax and I strongly suggest councilling because you have been through a very traumatic time. Get in touch with a group (in England it is called cruise) which is a group of people who have all lost someone very close to them. Here you will be able to talk things through with people who have been in the same situation as you and they will be able to guide you. Talking things through will help you no end. I am so sorry. Losing a child is something I've never gone through, so I cannot relate, but I know it would extremely hard. My heart goes out to you and your family. Being sad and lonely is normal after losing someone you love. After my father died, I went through a very tough time for over a year and only realized later that I was actually depressed - in the clinical sense. Maybe you should make an appointment with a doctor to talk about what's going on. Just talking with a friend or relative may help as well. Good luck, Ayndriea. You will be in my prayers.

You should really find a support group who have lost loved ones as well. I would also find a doctor who can refer you to someone you can speak with about how your feeling. I'm very sorry for your loss and I hope that you find the strength to get through this!
