What is an appropriate age to paint a child's toe nails?

My little Girl is 22 Months Old (Almost 2) and she's quite Clever for her Age. For the last couple of Months she has been taking a real interest when I apply make-up and paint my nails.

I often let her play with the Blusher Brush on her Cheeks but now she's asking for me to Paint her Nails when I do mine. I have said "No, when your a little older" but is there really any harm?

She doesn't put her toes in her Mouth or anything like that and I have seen that you can get child friendly polish.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks! :)

There is all natural nail polish that isn't at all toxic. It's called Piggy Paint

It's water based so you don't have to worry about anything like that, and even if she does end up with a little bit of it in her mouth (from playing with her feet or hands) you don't have to worry about her getting sick. They come in lots of great colors.

I have been painting my daughters toenails ever since the nails were big enough to paint. I didnt paint her fingernails that early cuz everything goes in her mouth. I think you will be fine to paint them. It will be a fun mommy and daughter thing (thats what we do, we even make it a little pedicure time with a warm foot tub)

Wow I must live on a different planet. I don't even own any nail polish. Last time I painted my nails was 16 years ago. I don't have a girl but if my boy expresses an interest in painting his nails he's more than welcome.

my daughters painted my grandaughter from a very age (like a month old) it won't hurt them.

I have 3 girls, 5, almost 3, and 7 months. I occassionally paint toes on the 2 older ones - even got them the non-toxic Piggy Polish. My problem though, is that they can't sit still long enough for the darn stuff to dry. The 2 year old likes to curl her toes under - an unconscious habit - and it's so hard to get them to wait. I ended up getting the quick-drying stuff, which is far from non-toxic, I'm sure...but they don't put their toes in their mouths, so I guess I'm okay with it. They LOVE having their piggies look pretty . When the older one asks to have her finger nails done, I'll pull out the Piggy Polish, but they are satisfied with just toes for now.

My daughter loved having her nails painted when she was little. We bought the kid friendly kind that peeled off. She loved picking different colors. Because it was so fun to peel the polish off, I had to make a rule that I would paint her nails once a week-like on Saturdays. She is now a teenager and still paints her nails and the colors she picks and buys-wow! Got to love her sense of style!

This is part of having fun with your daughter! Have her do a chore and earn a bottle of nail polish, then go shopping! Have fun! Before you know, she will be painting her siblings and friends nails! Oh yeah-enjoy getting your nails done too (Dad won't be forgotten either)!

I waited 15 years to have a daughter so I started painting her toe nails when she was just a baby. I don't think there's an inappropriate age. Whenever you want.

I painted my two year olds toenails but I agree with waiting to paint the fingernails in case she chews them .

Oh, I didn't start painting finger nails until my older daughters were around 3 (or whenever they stopped eating with their hands) and my 3 year-old still sucks her thumbs so I paint all her fingernails except for her thumbnails. I'll probably start painting the 2 year-old's fingernails around her 3rd birthday as long as she starts using her utensils to eat more :)

My 2 year-old has had her toenails painted on a regular basis since she was about 2 months old. She was never a toe sucker, so it was safe :) I use non-toxi polish on all my daughter's toes (ages 8, 3 and 2) and one of our favorite "girl time" things to do together is when I get out my nail stuff and give all my girls pedicures. We've been doing that about once a month since my youngest wa around 6 months or so and it's really fun :)

I don't have a daughter :-(, but if I did, I would be okay with it. I say, go ahead!

PAINT THEM! She'll love it :) I have a two year old and I've been doing it since she was about 18-19 months. She thinks it's pretty

I started painting my daughters toe nails around when she was 19 months i think (she is now 21 1/2 months). I dont see any harm in it since she does not put it in her mouth. I wont do her actual finger nails because she always has them in her mouth.

my 18mo old is All about nail polish so I got her the kid friendly kind and we do her toes every Sunday. It actually has made the nail trimming part easier b/c she knows the paint is coming next LOL. We dont do fingers yet b/c her hands are always in her mouth, but she loves to paint her piggies!

Paint them! There is nothing wrong with it. I found a brand called Piggy Polish (lol, it's specifically for the little ones). I have black (for my 4 year old sons toes) and hot pink for my daughter (18 months).
As for makeup, my daughter is the same as yours :) I, very occasionally, put a little bit shimmery white eyeshadow on her when I'm doing my makeup. Nothing wrong with that either. They just like to be like their mommies ♥

My daughter likes to have some lip gloss on if she sees me put it on and she is 2. Your daughter is trying to be you bless her. I can't see a problem with it just a bit tricky getting her to sit still whilst it dries!

PAINT'EM!!!! there's no harm in it at all. generally children's polish will peel off in a couple days. my boyfriend's daughter just turned 5...every time we pick her up from her mom she has a different color of polish!

go for it, there's nothing wrong with painting her nails at all. i know some people who have their baby girls nails painted in their three month pictures (kind of extreme i know!) but hey, you have a girlie girl, it could be a great bonding time between the two of you as she grows older :) i babysit children and some of my little 18 month old girls come and are so excited to show me their pretty nails that mommy did

I would definitely paint them !!! Fingers I would wait on if she puts them in her mouth alot but toes I would definitely paint....
