what is the best bottle teat to use to compliment breastfeeding?

i have breastfed my baby since she was born, she's now 6 weeks old. my husband would like to feed her too so I expressed some milk into an Avent bottle with a newborn teat but she wouldn't take it and got quite upset. i didn't expect her to take to it straight away but she will suck on a dummy so i thought she would be ok. what type of bottle teats do other breastfeeding mums use?

I was the only one for 2 weeks that could feed my son (breastfed) cuz he took to not a single bottle nipple...I tried EVERYTHING and then I finally tried Gerber Nuk the wide nipple. I was so relieved! My Fiance could now help me out! Good Luck!

I use Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottles and haven't had any problems with combing breast and bottle, With my 1st I used avent and he struggled with the transition between thje 2, i often ended up being "bitten"!

The Tommee Tippee bottles are fantastic. The shape of the teat is so like a breast/nipple and I found them brilliant.

Try Nuk orthodontic, I have boys so I only know that the boy colors are green with dragonflies and blue with sailboats. They have a different shaped nipple and my son took to it no problem after only having breastfed.

My daughter is 10 weeks and I'm having the same issue. I've tried Avent bottles and teats, nuk teats in the avent bottles, tommee tippee bottle, dr. browns - all with no luck. As a final attempt I've bought the adiri natural nurser - but not tried it yet. I'll let you know how I get on. Good luck xx

Platex dropin nursers worker for me. I breastfed until he was 5months. And dad fed through the platex dropins. The nipples are much bigger and are like a womans nipple.

This is a tricky one....I exclusively breastfed until 6 months (when we started solids); my son hated the bottle and if anyone tried to give him formula in a pinch, he looked as tho' we had poisoned him, he hated it. Just keep offering the expressed breastmilk, she is likely to eventually take it when/if hungry enough. I tried several different bottles and nipples until he'd have any of it, it takes some testing and trying. Like us, they have preferences!! Breast is best, and she knows it, so of course she'd rather have 'you' than a bottle...but I'd also advise Daddy trying without you there, because if you're remotely an option, she will protest at the bottle. Keep at it, and keep up the breastfeeding - it did my boy wonders (he's now only just weaning at 18 months, because I need to get back on some medication....). Good luck with all of that - it's early days yet; you never know, tomorrow, there'll be something new...they keep you on your toes!!
