when did your baby start to laugh regularly?

[deleted account] ( 7 moms have responded )

My daughter is 5 months old. She laughs once in a blue moon and ALWAYS at things that are not funny (i got a laugh when I was folding laundry. I got a laugh the first time I put a snugli on I got a laugh when I was playing with an elastic band)

I try funny faces i just get this look like "what the heck are you doing? are you insane?"

she is NOT ticklish

she does not like raspberries

she is full of smiles and she is good with all her milestones. She can sit on her own, she can support herself standing if shes holding onto something but why can't I get a laugh? Maybe once a week I will get one.

when did your baby start to laugh regularly?

My darling is 5 months and smiles at the drop of a hat, but like you does not laugh a lot - only once really. I'm not worried, just looking forward to when he does! :-)

around 6 months my son started to get a sense of humour and laugh at songs and faces...it seemed like the harder I tried he would look at me like I was nuts and his father would waltz into the house after being gone for days and he would crack up...guess I just wasn't that funny after looking at me for days at a time. now he is 17 months old and I swear life is his stage and he is a comedian.

carissa...when my daughter was about 3 and a half months she went through a stage where she would NOT smile for me...only daddy. I actually cried because I would try everything to get a smile and all daddy had to do was say hi to her and she would have a HUGE grin...this stage lasted for about a week, then she was smiling at me again.

I can't say I noticed when it "started" but my baby is just 9 months old and she is now laughing at everything all the time (as long as she's not too tired/hungry etc). I remember thinking earlier on that she didn't laugh much or that it took me a lot of work to get her to laugh. I think it takes babies a while to understand what makes something fun/funny.

Thank you Blackwood I really hope she will laugh more. I know a happy baby smiles, and I am glad she does this a lot, but when she does laugh it is the most amazing thing in the world..I wish I could experience that everyday.

My son is 7.5 months and doesn't laugh regularly either, but when I do something random that isn't funny he will really belly laugh, this started about 2 weeks ago. A friend of mine her 3.5 month old, laughs more then my son. Every baby is different. Regular smiles mean a happy baby, so don't worry.
