When Mom isn't gone, she's just cruel

I am a lawyer and my practice involves criminal law. For 20 years I have watched young people yearn for their mother's love and get nothing in return -- their devastation is so real. Imagine never having dinner at a table with family, never having clean sheets or pajamas, or a bed all to yourself. No one cares if you did homework or even showed up for school. I had a self-centered, arrogant mother who talked about me behind my back. I'm 65 and it still hurts. I want to refer the young women with a need for this kind of give and take, and emotional support to this site. Family can be who takes the role, not always the person to whom it was assigned. I am very lucky to have 5 happy children, all grown... would people here be upset if I asked this young single mothers to read and post here? It just sounds like caring and understanding -- a place where many of these girls (who choose imperfect or destructive men) might learn compassion and hope for their little ones.

I'm dealing with this very issue myself. There are so many mom's who are abusive in as many ways as father...but we always put Mommy on a pedestal. Even so, the abusive often doesn't end but changes. My mother is 74 and she's a wicked woman who continues to say nasty things to me...thanks for bringing up this very important issue
