When should I start giving food to my baby? She is 3.5month now.

But my mother wants to give fruits, juice to my child, which I don't want now. I heard somewhere that if you breastfeed only until the child is 1 year old, the baby will be clever and strong.

Food before 1 is always just for fun and is not meant to be offered in place of a bottle or breast feeding. Juice should not be offered before the age if 2 since it's empty calories that offers no nutritional value. You can start solids around 6 months, only one or two spoonfuls once a day to start.

3.5 months oid way too young to start solid foods. Your babys stomach is not ready for them yet and if given solid food too early it can lead to bigger problems in the future. Gut problems and such. Its reccommend by professionals to begin solids between four and six months. But I would wait six months just so babys belly is mature enough to handle a nice puree. Start with veggies like pureed pumpkin or sweet potato then slowly introduce fruits. Bubs like the taste of sugar in the fruits so start with the good ol' veggies first : ) so she doesn't always expect something sweet. Fruit juices are way to sugary to give a baby and she doesnt need them. Baby only needs your breastmilk to drink and a couple of sips of water if she seems thirsty but refuses the breast. Don't let your mother or anyone else pressure you into starting solids too soon or before you are comfortable trying them. And remember with solids go SLOWLY. Good luck .
