Where can I get my child's first haircut?

I live in York, PA and am looking to get my 2 year old daughter's haircut for the first time. I am looking for a child-centered facility that caters specifically to children's haircuts. Any recommendations or tips on first haircuts you can share?

I dont know of a place for you to go to get her hair cut but I do recommend that she sees you having your hair cut before you take her. She will then of seen what is going to happen and she wont be frightened. Also take some distraction toys with you incase she gets fed up with sitting still.

My mother in law as a beautician, soshe cuts our kids' hair. One thing that worked well for our kids to sit better during the cut was to give them the spray bottle of water while they were getting it cut. They would suck on the bottle and spray it, it kept them pretty entertained. Of course going to a beauty salon to get hair cut I wouldn't let them suck on that spray bottle, but maybe you could bring one of your own. I also know there are places specifically for kid cuts. I don't know what you have around there, but we have something called Whipper Snippers, it's just for kids. The other thing you could try is to have a portable DVD player and let her watch something while they cut. It may keep her somewhat still. If you go to the kid cut places they have them all geared up for kids. Fun chairs, and staff that knows how to work with kids. Call around and specifically ask if the place has someone that works well with cutting a 2 year olds hair. Also let them know it's her first haircut.
