Will Probably be stepping on some toes here

I cannot understand some of these questions posted on here. Like for example, "how many times a week do you bath your baby".
Seriosly people, how many times a week do u bath? Every day (hopefully) So way not do the same with your child. He / she is also a human being. Why must they suffer coz u are to lazy to keep them cleen. They sleep much better when they have had a bath and it teaches them to get into a routine.
Thats just my thoughts.
Another thing is this debate that has been going on for decades. To spank or not to spank? For crying out loud people. If you are not christian by all means then it may be a difficult subject. But if you like me, believe in Christ our Lord there is not debate about it. It states clearly in Proverbs that a spanking makes you stop doing bad things it even stops you thinking about doing bad things. (reverence is not accurate but ja, it is in there)

It is not sience, if you want to know how to raise your child, READ THE BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not an easy job raising a child, that is way God gave us His word to help us.

Generally those bath questions are about newborns and considering many hospitals do not reccomend bathing a newborn everyday ( general warm water wipe down ) it may be confusing for some as to why ...the answer being that newborn skin is incredibly delicate and has no exposure to the outside world until now sometimes for first time mothers this can be a little confusing as to exactly how often a child should be bathed.

please use correct references if you are going to make absurd claims like this " It states clearly in Proverbs that a spanking makes you stop doing bad things it even stops you thinking about doing bad things. "

Considering the king solomon was a heratic , a failure as a parent and had the complete opposite ideas on how humanely a child should be treated than that of Jesus I find it interesting it is ( your interpretation) of his word you choose to follow.

Yes there is most certainly science involved in raising a child.

Nutrition.

Psychology

Biology

Sociology

just to mention a few.

All of these can be broken into sub sciences...while we dont think of them as we parent they are involved in every parenting decision we make.

And last of all you are right it isnt easy to raise a child places like this is where mothers can come to ask for help any question asked is a step forward to bettering themselves as a parent ...you dont have to understand why they need to ask it but you could have a little empathy and fore thought.

LOL Before a baby is running around the getting into messes, she doesn't need a bath everyday ... many have sensitive enough skin that a daily bath is not good for them

There are many versions of the Christian bible, each with a different spin, different wording, different phrasing ... but I really don't think there is a bible out there that says "Spanking makes you stop doing bad things and even stops you from thinking about bad things"

So, learn all you need to know about parenting from the bible?

Remind me again about Abram. He raped his maid Hagar, I remember that part.

She did try to run away, but was forced to come back.

She bore a son, Ishmael. This happened because Sarai wanted a child.

A year or so later, Sarai had a son of her own; Isaac

Now, what did Abram do to his first child? He gave him and his mother a small amount of bread and water and sent them wander in the desert wilderness of Beer-sheba

Yah, good parenting that.

Then after all of that Abram nearly killed Isaac …

Actually it is probably best to not bathe a baby everyday as their skin is very delicate. My kids sleep just fine without a bath every night.
For everytime you smack your child I hope someone smacks you.

King James Bible
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

Do you beat your children with a stick? If not, you're not following the Bible.

And yet another one waltzes in, STARTS a post to tell everyone how they should be parenting because that's the way she thinks it should be done, and then gets her knickers in a knot because people don't agree with her. And we're pathetic? Uh-huh.....

I like when people say 'sorry to offend...' when that was clearly their intention. o_O

Can I borrow your rod? I seem to have broke mine...

But interesting enough, you are using science to correct your child if you spank just like everyone else. You're using physics, chemistry and biology. Science is in everything! Glory be to Science!

I am really sorry that i offended anyone, and sorry to say this, but you people are really PATHETIC!!!!

[deleted account]

Wasn't judging..... "Why must they suffer coz u are to lazy to keep them cleen. " Not but definitely attacking.

And you pretty much said i don't know how to raise my child because i haven't read the bible. Come on... Judgement and a half right there!

MMM wonder how we ever managed to raise children then before someone came up with the idea of god???

[deleted account]

OMW!!!!!
You can say all you want. At least I KNOW where my soul is going.

And by the way i wasnt juding ANYONE! My afrikaans Bible says in more than one place that a spanking is good for a child. Spreuke 20:30, Spreuke 22:15, Spreuke 23:13. Hey but what the . . .
Everybody lives their own way, i just choose to use my bible as my one and only guidline.

Blessing to all off you and good luck with everything!!

If you dont like the questions and debates on COM you dont have to come on here lol its a voluntary act you know.

Hmm, that's a couple of interesting questions you've posed.

Firstly, I not only bathe my children as often as I do, but I also make sure to use a loofah or scrubbing cloth... just as I do on myself.

As for parenting by the bible, I would wholeheartedly agree with you. I do own a bible and when one of my kids has been naughty, I take it down off the bookshelf and give them a firm smack on the bum with it, assuming my aim has been right. I'm sure that's exactly what you do as well. Heaven forbid if one of my children even THINKS of doing something bad! Screw that "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you" rubbish.

[deleted account]

I call bullshit on the bible telling people to spank their kids, it states to guide them NOT spank them!

The bathing has been covered, it's advisable not to bathe a baby everyday because it can dry out their delicate skin, a daily top and tail is all that's needed.

Just because something seems like a silly question to you doesn't mean it isn't something somebody else needs help with! Nobody makes you read these questions if they bother you so much I suggest you just ignore them.

My youngest daughter has eczema and bathing her every day makes it flare up. She gets a bit of splash time every night with her sister before bed, but a true bath about twice a week.

Honestly, if I didn't think you asked this question in seriousness I would think you were an internet troll trying to stir up trouble by attacking any parent that doesn't spank their children, bathe their children daily, or use the Bible to raise their children.

I've looked and looked through my Bible, and nowhere does it tell me to spank my child. Can someone please point me to where it says that? I'm worried there may be some pages missing that have some critical parenting tips.......

But it does say things about judging others and casting the first stone. Are you missing those pages?

I manage quite fine without any historical book telling me how to raise my child. And I'd much rather take advice from fellow mothers than some imaginary man in the sky.
