Stumbled across this site while searching for a way to help my (youngest) adult son. He has Asperger's Syndrome, he suffers from anxiety and depression, and worst of all he has attempted suicide more than once. I am so worried about him and do not know how to help him.

I have told him over and over again that I love him, that I'm here for him. I've called him from time to time just to say "hi" - keep the conversation light - don't discuss anything that might cause him to avoid calling me in the future - now he has stopped calling me and does not return my calls. I worry about him all the time.

I'm sorry your son has moved away; I hope he gets help. Thank you for replying. Good luck.

Well, unfortunately, if he's on his own, and refuses to go for an assessment or treatment help, there's not a lot you can do. I know it breaks your heart, but at this point, you need to let him know that you love him, that you're still there no matter what, and that when he's ready, you'll be ready for him.

I have done that - many times, now he refuses to speak to me and he moved over 100 miles away.

Suggest that he get himself into a treatment plan.
