Hello! I am a stay home mom of 3, ages 1,3 and 9. I have a special needs child who requires many doctor appointments. I tried looking for something that had a flexible schedule that would work with all of our appts, but its just impossible. I would LOVE to be able to stay home and work. Everything that I have found wants you to give THEM money first! I do not trust any of those. I really need to start bringing in some kind of money. Our family of 5 can not survive on 1 income with all of our medical bills. If anyone could please point me to a company that wont rip me off, I would greatly appreciate it!!!!!

Hi Becky, most work at home companies have a small fee to start, usually for the membership or start up kit. I work for Syntek Global, if you would like more info I would be glad to send you the info.

Sorry I have been away,I think i responded to all the emails. I will say, odesk hires those that do CHEAP work. Meaning if you want $1 a hour you will get hired. I no longer use that site. I dont work for 50cents. HB is great but with the economy not such a good idea for those that need money weekly/bi weekly and Steady. Those take time to get a good clientele and most need money right away. Since I cannot post link, just email me here and I will shoot you the site. It is free to join and is my site. Apply for EVERY job you want to no matter what the date says! Most always hire or keep the app on file. It is harder to find a job these days since there are sooo many now who need one. So apply apply apply and do follow ups

Have you ever heard of Norwex? It is a company that sells enviro friendly cleaning products and has been around for 19 years. It is just starting to make its way around the U.S. and it is really worth it to get in now before it blows up to big. If your interested let me know and I will get you more info. Reallllly worth your time to look into. I am a stay at home mom of 2 girls and I absolutely love the work and the products. It has truly changed my life. I didnt have to put any money into to start they sent everything to me. I did however spend about 150.00 to get the ball rolling but they were for personal preference items not anything I needed to actually make a profit.

Hello Becky -
I am partnered with an $850 Million-dollar company! I have a recession proof business - it is a science-based wellness consumer products company that manufactures over 350 products, and it's GREEN. These are all products that people need and use every day. We are a great group of Mom's working from home and we would love to help you.

If you want the flexibility of working from home then you will have to consider starting a business. That is going to give you the flexibility of being your own boss. But starting a business is not free. There will be a monetary investment but that does not make it a scam. There are MANY legitimate companies in the network marketing industry. The important thing to keep in mind is that it is extremely imporant to do your homework to find something that is right for you. Just from the information you provided it sounds like a party plan type company would not be the best situation for you. To truly make money at a party plan you will have to work very hard booking parties which will take you outside of the home to work the party at the home of a hostess. So you would need to focus your attention on a company that is not a party plan. Then you must decide what kind of products you want to market. All network marketing companies have a product to market to a consumer. You will need to decide if this is what you are looking for. The network marketing industry is a great industry to work in but it is not right for everyone and that is okay. If you do decide to explore the industry, you MUST be passionate about the product. You can NOT market something that you are not passionate about.

If you are looking for something that is more of a traditional "job" there are companies like Hire My Mom and Odesk. They list freelance jobs that you can do from home. There should NEVER be a fee associated with this. Keep in mind that this is going to require that you work for someone else, because it's not your own business. There are going to be deadlines that you must meet, certain times of the day that you must be available, etc. A good way to check out companies like Hire My Mom and Odesk is to Google the name of the company and then scam/reviews e.g. "Odesk reviews", "Hire My Mom scam" and Google will pull up message boards and blogs where you can read about the experience of others that have used these companies.

Good luck to you and please keep in touch with us to let us know how you are doing and if you found something that worked for you as it might help others that are looking.

Hey Becky :) You have come to a good place here! I will tell you though that there is a big difference between a home job and a home business. With most home jobs you should not pay to start as you are an employee but with a home business you are the boss of your own company so there will be some costs.

Both have their pros and cons but with a home business you can get to the point of living the life you want the way you want whereas a job will help you to get by.

It all depends on your needs/wants though. I encourage you to check out the sticky posts at the top of the group as they will help you on your search.

I also have 2 of 3 videos on my blog (PM me if you'd like the url) that are designed to help you on your search. They go over your mindset, common reasons people use to qualify their work at home search and a different perspective on these reasons. I include having no money to start up as one of them :).

I encourage you to check out the home businesses of the fine ladies here on the board as this is what will truly help you with your finances. There will be sacrifice, but a great reward :)

Have you considered watching children? You can watch just a couple and still be able to take them to appt when needed (if you have a van). Most people make $25-$30 per child. My friend decided to start a daycare and watch up to 5 children. Posted on FB and was full within 2 weeks.
