What is the best way to celebrate the first birthday for a daughter?

I have to agree with Jen. Just make sure you have a lot of film and a small special cake for the little one to tear into. Also for my son's first birthday we bought a small pre-made scrapbook at Wal-mart for everyone who attended to sign and give birthday wishes. We also added some pictures from the party itself. If you do this, just make sure mommy and daddy's page is set aside or it will get signed. :-) Also I recommend fruit and no-sugar snacks for any other babies coming. It is not fun to deal with sugar highs or coming down from sugar high babies.

I went with a generic zoo theme for my daughter's party. We had about 20 people there and had lunch and watched my daughter enjoy her cake. You don't have to do much planning because you daughter isn't really going to care much. We just let our daughter play in her cake and open her presents while the adults did their own thing. Just enjoy each other's company.

I would do a small party in the morning. To be honest, I think the 1st birthday is more for the parents, baby is a bit young to really know what's going on. Have fun!!
