okay so b4 i had my 4th child i had the IUD put in. i was really excited about the whole thing but my body rejected it. i thought i had a miscarriage. the blood clot was about he size of my palm and the only reason i knew it was my IUD was becuase of the 2 plastic strings poking out of the clot. EWWW! So, i dont agree with any other birth control cuz they just have way to many hormones in them which makes me go crazy and gets me depressed. i want to try the IUD agin but it alittel nerve racking...some and any advvise anyone? i tried the pill after the IUD and thats how i got prego with my 4th. im on the depo but i have already gained 7 pounds...i really dont need to gain any more. Believe me lol

I have the Mirena, and I have to say that I am happy with it. It does use hormones, but they are localized to the uterus and it does not prevent ovulation like many other forms of hormonal BC. When it was first inserted I bled for two weeks, but now, a year and a half later, my periods last about a day and they are totally on schedule every month.

We are all so different, and there are so many factors that have an impact on our hormones and cycles...I feel that you have to just try every option and see what works best for you.

I loved my IUD for the first 5 months...Now I have been bleeding for 2 months and my OB made it sound pretty normal on this dang thing.....

I had an IUD for 7 yrs and loved it but my cramps were HORRIBLE. Even Mirena has some hormones in it doesn't it? If you definitely don't want more children, I think I would go with someone along the lines of the Essure procedure as well. I hope you find something that works for you.

Whether or not you should get another IUD is something you should discuss with your physician.

I totally feel your frustration with other forms of bc. I am using Mirena right now and think it may be responsible for my weight gain. :( After that, I don't know which way to go. I've tried them all too and I really don't want to get pg again.

I got something called Implanon (SP) It is basically like the new norplant. It's inserted in the upper inside arm and is about as big around and long as a match stick... it does however have the hormones in it but it is very slowly released. I believe it is also good for 5 years.. It does look ugly but after a few weeks the bruise goes away and you can't feel it. I tried the IUD but my body didn't like it either.

I used to depo and have to gained 5 pounds..i dont reccommend the iud either if you are permanetly done with having children i had the ESSURE done you can type it in to a search and talk to your health care provider but only if you dont want anymore children. Or the pill ive tried but couldn't remember to take it the patch is alright as well you just have to put it on weekly.
