Why would my 6 year old be wetting his pants on a regular basis when he hasn't had an accident since he was 2!? He swears he "can't feel it" even when his pants are soaked and just ignores the fact that he has urine dripping into his socks... This has been happening for months now... What can I do? Nothing seems to be working.

Think medical first! If there is nothing wrong medically there are other reasons that could cause these accidents. You son may be dealing with situations in his life that are stressful, new school or a sibling? A child psychologist could be helpful in this situation. I wish you the best.

When I was a kid I did that and my mom took me to my dr and found out that my bladder was not growing as fast as the rest of my body. They did some test to determine it and then gave me some medication-been fine since.

i second you need to see his doctor to check for any med. problems. yet, it could as be a change is his life, schedule, and/or routine that is making him nervous. many times kids can't communicate their worries and his could be a reaction

Do you have a new baby or another new change in your homelife? Many children regress temporarily when this happens. On a more depressing note, regression (especially peeing pants) can be a sign of abuse at school or somewhere else. Some children will regress if they are being bullied and also if sexual molestation is occurring.

I suggest taking him to the doctor if you suspect a medical problem, but also try and talk to him about the change that is happening in a way that he knows that you still care very much about him. A good way to demonstrate this is to have a special "mom and son" day where you go out together.

Thanks girls! We are expecting another baby in 4 weeks... That could certainly be the cause I suppose.

I would suggest taking him to the doctor, just to see if it is a medical problem. If it isn't medical there maybe another problem. Sometimes children don't know how to express themselves or talk to parents. Think about what has changed in his life since this began. Talk to him ask him questions there is a underlying reason for this change. Find Out!
