I'm not sure how old you're son is, or how long you've had the diagnosis, but there is a lot of progress that you can make.  There are some great resources online with books for moms, as well as for the kids.  These books help normalize the behaviors and symptoms.  The two good websites are  you can type in aspergers and there is a lot of information.  The biggest tip I can give you is to work with his perseveration to make life make sense to him.  Good Luck.

Hi Linda, how old is your son? Support from school as well as regular intervention will go a long way in helping you and your son. Hope you have easy access to help and support near where you live. With patience, love and regular hard work, you will be able to help him.

Just be there for him in every way possible and communicate with the school and the doctors. You can also see if the school or your town offers any programs for your son to join. The both of you will be just fine. My son has autismand he is 8. He has been getting intervention since he was almost 3. I know how hard it is and I've learned a whole new feeling of patience. You should join a support group in your area and try to get together with other parents.
