Breastfeeding and working

Hi all. I am getting extremely frustrated about the amount of milk I am pumping out while working. I am relaxed, I have a warm compress to help with let down, and still - I am only able to get one, maybe two (if I am lucky) onces from one side. The other side I get between 3 and 4 ounces. My son is drinking 8 oz from a bottle. I am taking Mothers Lactation Tonic (fenugreek didn't work). I am going to have to start adding formula, and this is not what I wanted to do, atleast not this soon. Does anyone have any other advice?

Thanks.

I pump every 4 hours, its all I can do while at work. I have a Medela Swing pump. My Pump in Style died on me, and I never did get the hang of double pumping, so I opted for the Swing.

Part of my frustration is that it takes almost 10 minutes after I start pumping before any milk starts coming out. And then it takes forever for me to just get an ounce. By the end of the day, I am so full, it hurts. I nurse as soon as I get home from work so that helps relieve the pressure. I just don't understand why I get nothing when I pump!

How often are you pumping? Can you pump more often to increase your production? Also, what sort of a pump do you have? I can't tell you the difference there is between a cheap battery-operated pump and the double, electric ones - they cost a fortune but are so worth it. I was lucky enough to inherit my sister's - they say not to share them but you can buy spare tubes (the only part that can't be sterilised) for $8 so there's really no reason not to get one used.
