Sometimes I feel guilty calling in sick if my child is sick. Does anyone else go thru this?

My son got sick a lot when I first put him into daycare. I felt awful at first. My supervisor pulled me aside and "coached" me on my declining reliability. I had previously never called in sick. I got offended and told them that my previous exemplary attendance should buy me a little lenience for now when I needed it. Then the other Moms got wind of it and backed me up. Now it is standard protocol to allow moms and dads to take sick time if their children are ill. Don't feel guilty if you need time off for sick kids. They always get first priority over work, because most jobs are replaceable.

Sometimes I lie and say I am sick- not the kids so they don't get annoyed by my sick kids. They are always understanding, though, so I don't know why I get so worried about it.

Hi, i do sometimes only because i work in a small busy branch for a bank, but we shouldnt really, your children are your number one and if you can go to work you cant go, if people you work with have children they will understand.

I don't feel guilty calling in when my child is sick, but I feel really guilty calling in when i'm sick. My family expects me to be supermom, so I shouldn't get sick. Don't feel bad because that's your child, and she/he expects you to be there for them.
