Before i had my little one I was working full time but since i had her i have gone back to work part time 3 days a week. Lately i have been considering going back to work full time but doing full time hours over 4 days instead of 5 so I at least get 1 weekday off with my daughter. Obviously this means having to work longer shifts. I was just wondering if anyone has done this and how it worked out.

Hi Emmy!

Well, Im a ft RN so with the job comes mandatory shift work so I do 12 hour rotations of DDNN then off 5. It works for us. My husband works ft days 8 hours so hes always there to pick the kids up from daycare on my day shifts, and drop them off after a night shift. He does baths and dinners on day shift days. Of course I miss the kids on those days as I dont have much time with them (I get home at 7:30 pm and they go to bed at 8:30) but its a fair trade to be off with them for the 5 days. Its tiring- but juggling parenthood and a career is tiring anyway! Good luck with whatever your choice is- if you have any questions about it more specifically, I will gladly help out!
