My 1 year old does not eat food heartily it takes at least an hour and half for each meal and this after stuffing him as he does not want to open his mouth . He has to be shown various toys n books before the meal goes down ,any suggestions on improving his eating habits and for him to gain weight!!!!!

my son also takes a long time to eat and we just give him the time, eventually he will eat most of his food. Although there are days he barely eats anything. Since he is still good on his weight we havent really done anything else. We do confine him to a high chair so he can't get down and we let him watch TV (I know it is not the best practice) but he eats more when he gets to watch Sprout.

Pediasure to help with meal replacements of coarse you still want to try giving him food first. Also run all necessary test to rule everything else such as reflux ( I have a friend whos son has this problem and he has a hard time eatting) He could just be easly destracted and you have to get him use to meals times is not the same as play times. Remove any destractions and start from there also you dont want to give him to much fluids as he will get full and refuse to eat. Watch what snacks you give him and when you give them to him because my daughter would get full of snacking and want to skip meals.I give a snack after meals as a reward and still we are battling this. Also place him on a schedule so he is use to eatting these meals at this time of day.
