I have an almost 21 month that has been off the bottle once but was getting dehydrated so we had to put him back on the bottle. Any suggestions on how to get them off again? He is worse now-he tells us what to put in it and everything.

How about a cool straw with a cup and a lid? Try letting him pick out the color. Sometimes they like the choices.

my son is 3 and is still drinking his bottle, my co-workers tell me to take him to the store and let him pick out a big boy cup, or recently my son got his 3 year check up and the doctor said no bottle, everytime my father ask him if he wants a bottle the he tell my father that the doctor will not let him drink his bottle its working so far..

Try cups with straws in them. Reward him for using it at the table rather than at bedtime or naptimes. Explain to him that drinks stay at the table. My son liked to see what rewards or treats he would get to be a big boy and have drinks stay at our dining room table like the adults.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried the only water in the bottle and everything else in a sippy but that didn't work. I started a new job on Tuesday so the Grandmas are going to watch him until I can get him into daycare in November. I told them that he is only to have his bottle at nap time and bedtime. So far it is working at home to only give him it at bedtime but he still wants his milk in it not water. Any more ideas on how to break him of that? He is very vocal about what he wants.

Have you tried using sippy cups again? You could start to cut back 1 bottle every few days, hopefully til no more. You could try giving him 1-2 options what can go in it.

Good Luck.

my sons were born close together. my oldest son was off the bottle and pacifier until bubba was born and he reverted back to both. his doctor suggested just putting water in the bottle and other things he wanted to drink in a sippy cup only.

try the munchkin sippys with the soft top, or maybe the ones with the straw and make him feel like he is such a big boy for using them...or maybe let him pick out his own sippys. good luck!
