My son is three and is potty trained for the most part...he will not poop in the toliet/potty. He has no problem peeing, has been for almost a year now. But he continues to poop in his underwear. I've tried everything from brivary, toys, treats, and videos. No luck. I get him to sit on the potty...nothing but as soon as he's off, he'll wait till I'm occupied and go in his underwear. Any ideas?

Thats hard, my nephew did the same thing and as hard as this seems we let him stay in thedirty undies a little longer (5-10 min) than we would have until he didnt like the feeling. he then started going in the toilet. We put cherios in the toliet ant told him that his poopies would go away with them and he wanted to see if it was true. Hang in there and good luck.

I agree with Tricia let him feel the discomfort and just tell him as your changing him poo's belong in the toilet let him see you flush the poos down the toilet then sit him on the toilet after he has done a poo other wise he won't relate poos to the toilet

Thank you. He does want changed as soon as he goes, maybe I'll try making him stay in it for a few minutes and hopefully he will begin to rethink going in his underwear.

My son went through virtually the exact thing. I made him continue to wear pullups until he learned to poop in the potty. Are you putting him on the big potty or does he have a little one? My son would NOT use the little potty. It took some time; he was on the cusp of 4 before he finally was willing to do it our way and use the potty - he didn't wanna wear the pullup anymore b/c the other kids his age did not.
