Hello, my name is Stephanie. We just had our little one (Chase) on the 14th of October. I'll be heading back to work in about 2 weeks time and have been nursing since birth. I will be unable to continue to nurse once I am back at work and am a little worried about weaning with such little time left. Does anyone have any advise or tips to help transition into formula?

I haven't been able to get my hands on a good electric pump. The one I have is a manual, and it takes forever to get anything worth saving.

Thank you to all of you for the replies and all the help :) it's really appreciated!!

Maybe if you were able to rent a pump for a month it may help you. Before I went back to work I stocked up my freezer. I am fortunate to be able to pump once or twice a day at work and go feed my daughter at lunch (she goes to daycare on site) Good luck!

I went back to work when my daughter was three months old. From fairly early on, we supplemented with formula, usually toward evening. It took a few different tries with bottle types, nipples and formula brands, but we got there. It may not work for every baby, but it was a life-saver for us. I was able to breastfeed at least in the morning and after work up until about 6 months. I hope you're able to find a method that works for you, too.

Thanks! And thanks for the reply :)
The pump that I have is a manual pump and it takes me a good 30-40 minutes to get anything worth saving for baby. I'm not able to get my hands on an electric right away. I would love to continue to nurse but am afraid that it might not be such a good idea to try nursing exclusively again after a couple weeks of formula feeding! I'll give it a try though... thanks so much!
