Hi Kalli-

We just went thru this with our 3 year old. He was sleeping on the couch and sneaking into our bedroom every night. We dedicated 1 week to getting him in his own bed downstairs. The first night we took him down to his bed, kissed him good night and left his room. He became very upset and was up the stairs 3 steps behind us. We kept bringing him to his bed without saying anything to him, kissed him good night and left the room. We did this for 1 hour and 50 minutes the first night. He finally got so tired, his eyes were driftin shut on the way down the stairs. We still stuck with our bedtime routine of jammies, reading books and rockin in the chair for a little while. On the second night the time was decreased to 45 minutes and now after a week we are able to bring him down to his room and rub his back for 5 minutes and he stays sleeping down there all night long! It takes dedication and you almost need a spouse/s.o. to help with this. But its great in the long run. Good luck!

Hi Kalli...I never had that problem, my girls would never sleep with me no matter how much I begged them when they  were little. Funny eh. Try making bed time fun.

supernanny has wonderful techniques.  we have used them with our 3 year old and they worked perfectly.  they take time and consistency but are well worth it.  check out her shows or book or email me for more info.
